Yes, you can feel tired after a NAD+ appointment. But that doesn’t mean fatigue is an expected reaction to NAD+, and it doesn’t mean something went wrong.

That sounds contradictory at first. After all, NAD+ is closely connected to cellular energy, and many people choose NAD+ therapy because they’re interested in energy, focus, or recovery support. So how can someone walk out of an appointment feeling tired?

The key is understanding what “energy” actually means.

NAD+ plays an essential role in the cellular processes your body uses to make energy. That is well established. What isn’t established is that receiving NAD+ will make every person feel immediately energized. NAD+ isn’t caffeine, and an infusion isn’t a stimulant jolt.

Individual experiences differ.

If you feel tired after a visit, pay attention to how you feel rather than assuming it must be a specific physiological response to NAD+. Was the tiredness mild and temporary? Did you already feel run down before the appointment? Are you experiencing other symptoms? Is fatigue continuing or getting worse?

Those details matter more than trying to attach a trendy explanation to the experience.

Most importantly, tiredness after NAD+ should not automatically be labeled a “detox reaction” or proof that the NAD+ is working. There isn’t good evidence to support that conclusion.

What can a NAD+ IV feel like while you’re receiving it?

NAD+ IVs are different from a typical hydration drip in one practical way: they take longer.

Your full appointment may run longer because it can include check-in, intake review, vitals, preparation, IV placement, checkout, and questions. Your nurse may also adjust the infusion rate for comfort.

Some people notice temporary sensations while NAD+ is being infused. A small 2026 retrospective human study of 500 mg NAD+ IVs reported gastrointestinal symptoms, increased heart rate, and chest pressure during infusions. That’s useful tolerability data, but it doesn’t mean every client should expect those sensations.

Comfort matters.

At Vital Flow, your registered nurse monitors how you’re feeling throughout the infusion and can adjust the rate when needed for comfort. If something feels uncomfortable, tell your nurse. This isn’t an infusion where you get bonus points for trying to tough it out.

Changing the rate is about tolerability and comfort. A slower infusion shouldn’t be presented as producing a better result.

What is actually included with a Vital Flow NAD+ IV?

This is also where comparing one clinic’s “NAD drip” to another can get confusing. The NAD+ isn’t the only part of the Vital Flow experience.

Our current NAD+ IV process includes:

  • The first 500 mL IV fluid bag includes B-complex vitamins. The fluids provide hydration, while B vitamins play established roles in normal energy metabolism.
  • Glutathione is administered separately as an IV push before the NAD+ bag. It provides antioxidant support and is not mixed into either IV bag.

Can NAD+ still support energy if I feel tired afterward?

Yes, because we’re talking about two different meanings of energy.

NAD+ remains central to cellular energy metabolism whether or not you personally feel energized immediately after receiving it.

B-complex vitamins also have established roles in normal energy metabolism. IV fluids add hydration. Glutathione provides antioxidant support. Those are real and distinct reasons the components are included in Vital Flow’s NAD+ IV experience.

Here’s the practical difference. When fatigue is bigger than a NAD+ question

Sometimes the most useful answer to “Should I try NAD+ because I’m tired?” is to look more closely at the fatigue itself.

Everyone gets tired. A long week, poor sleep, travel, intense exercise, or a packed schedule can leave you feeling depleted.

Persistent, unexplained, worsening, or significant fatigue is different.
